What is a composite image?

Keeping your newborn safe during their photoshoot is my main priority. You may have seen some images like the one below of newborns and wonder how the baby was able to stay in the position unsupported. The answer is that they don't. A newborn's head is the heaviest part of their body and they are not able to support it alone. It is unsafe to pose a newborn in any position where the head is not fully supported.

This perfect little girl is NOT supporting her own head. She is NOT balanced in this position while a photograph is taken as quickly as possible. The image is a combination or COMPOSITE of two images merged together in photoshop during post production.

In the above image the weight of her head is supported from above ensuring there is no pressure on her wrists and that her head cannot fall. In the below image the weight is supported from underneath.

The top and bottom halves of the photographs are then merged together, I perform the final edits to the image and completed image is ready.

When choosing a newborn photographer it is important to check that they will be posing your baby safely.

If you have any questions about how your newborn will be kept safe during a session with me I would be happy to answer them.

Bye for now xx
